“I believe that being an artist is my destiny. Whatever lies ahead, I will find my way in getting through it…”
Niño Gallardo Malatag is a native of San Pablo City, Laguna, Philistines.son of Nestor B.Malatag and Luisa Erlinda Gallardo. He first realized his talent in art when he was in high school. Sketching anime figures and cartoon characters was his first showmanship of love on art- leading him to join several competitions. Later on, he took up Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education Major in Architectural Drafting to support and enhance his abilities. Sadly, he was forced to stop studying because of financial instability at that time. Such trial in his life led him to become more determined in fulfilling his dream of being a professional artist. On the year 2006, he started having this strange thing so called “subconscious dreams”, taking signs therein that being an artist is really his passion. With strong determination and faith in God, he was able to have great achievements on his art career.
His first artwork was done by on oil canvas. Acrylic was his favorite medium then. He did even more abstract creations in oil, in acrylics and mixed media. Murals, paintings on glass, personalized design on shoes, finishing touches on stone wood’s animals and wood like’s design and gold leafing were also part of his works. He continues to explore other mediums like oil pastels, soft pastel, charcoal, sepia and coffee. Throughout the years, his style was based in his dreams, believing that these are signs from GOD: He called it “dream fusion series”. One of his fortes is face and body painting inspired by fashion, nature and abstract concepts. These so called “masters” on the craft gave him inspirations but he wanted to be known with his own style as he continued exploring techniques related to his art career.
In the year 2007, Manila and Laguna were among his first venues for several art competitions. Group exhibitions were set forth on 2009. Come 2011, he joined several face and body painting competitions and by God’s grace, his efforts were recognized even more. His name started to buzz in this field of art. Throughout the year, he gained artistic recognitions here and overseas.
